Photo Request: Armstrong Siddeley
Thursday, 28 July 2011 22:21
While we've added it to the Photos Wanted! page, we wanted to put out a special request for anyone with photos of the 1946-1949 Armstrong Siddeley Typhoon, which we need for an upcoming article.

As far as we know, Armstrong Siddeley never really imported cars to the U.S. in any quantity, so the chances that we'll run into one locally (particularly in time for this article) are almost nonexistent. However, we are told that their survival rate in the UK is relatively good, so perhaps one of our British readers has spotted one.

If you have photos of this car that you'd be willing to let us use, please get in touch via the contact form (or via Facebook) as soon as possible. (As always, they need to be your own photos; we can't use images taken from the web or scanned from books or advertisements.)

As for why we need it, all will become clear soon..!

Good luck with finding photos of a Typhoon. It is forty years since I lived full-time in England, but I can't remember seeing one on the road in more than fifty years. The website "How Many Left" doesn't show any Armstrong Siddeley cars currently registered to be used on the road, so any survivors are no-doubt tucked away out of sight.

It is admittedly a long shot, but it's worth a shot...
